My Organic Journey
This image of a grandmother and child chipping a tree trunk is the closest reflection of my own childhood. I don’t have photos of those early days, but the memory is etched deeply in me. I was taught how to carefully chip timber from trees—not taking too much, just enough—so the tree could heal itself. We gathered bush plants, leaves, roots, and citrus skins, learning how nature gives generously when respected. These treasures were then soaked, distilled, and slowly transformed into oils.
It was more than a lesson in perfumery—it was a lesson in respect, balance, and gratitude for the living earth. Those early teachings shaped the way I work with essential oils today, blending with care, heart, and harmony with nature. We also made tiny bars of soap in empty match boxes from Yucca plants. I have very fond memories of showing other children how to do this while on camping holidays.
